Tēnā koutou katoa,
I am feeling honoured and excited to be appointed as the President of the Perinatal Society of New Zealand. As a neonatal clinician, I have a strong passion for improving the health and wellbeing of mothers, babies and their whānau, and I look forward to the work with great enthusiasm. In particular, I would love to see the equity gap within different groups of New Zealand Society to be addressed.
I want to thank the outgoing Auckland executive members for their dedication to the Perinatal Society during their term. Their efforts have elevated the Society to a level where we are proudly represented in Aotearoa New Zealand. Membership has grown, and the Annual Scientific Meetings, particularly over the past few years, have been a success bringing members together for enriching and engaging exchange of ideas.
I am grateful to be a part of an executive committee that embodies the core values of the Perinatal Society, promoting multi-disciplinary collaboration and driving progress in perinatal research across Aotearoa New Zealand. I am confident that the new executive will continue to serve all its members and more importantly, the community, with dedication and commitment.
As we look ahead to the challenges and opportunities before us, I encourage you all to renew your memberships and invite new members to join, ensuring the Society continues to thrive and achieve its full potential. Your support is vital to our success:

Finally, it is important that we always remember the heart of our efforts: The health and well-being of our most cherished citizens – the newborns and their whānau. These children represent the future of New Zealand, and the work we do today shapes the society they will inherit. By prioritizing their care, we are investing in the strength, resilience, and success of future generations.
