2019 Presentation Title: Importance of DOHaD for Indigenous Australia

Profile: Gurmeet is the Director of Life Course Studies at the Menzies School of Health Research. Her team has recently begun the 5th wave of follow-up of the Aboriginal Birth Cohort (ABC), the longest-running and largest Aboriginal Cohort study in Australasia. Concurrently, Gurmeet is a Senior Specialist Paediatrician at Royal Darwin Hospital and Professor for the Northern Territory Medical program. She has dedicated over 22 years to Indigenous health, in paediatric medicine as well as in a health research capacity in the Northern Territory. Her main area of interest is the relationship between early life factors and later health and chronic disease, particularly renal disease.
